Read difference between 302 and 351 cleveland

hi all

I want to know the difference between 302 and 351 cleveland by looking at them in a car does any one know

There is not much difference visually at all. If it has the original rocker covers then if you know the approx year of the vehicle it is originally from then it may help as they have different colours for the engine size. Usually it was Blue for 351 and red for the 302 in the early Aussie Fords.

If you want to be sure then probably the easist way is to take out the spark plugs and use a piece of wire or something to measure the stroke of the engine.

302 = 3" stroke
351 = 3.5" stroke

If my memory is working this morning!!??!! the factory colours are,,,,,

302 XA thru XC,, blue with red rocker covers.

302/4.9L XD/XE,, black with silver rocker covers and 4.9 sticker on RHS rocker cover.

351 2V XY thru early XB,, blue with orange rocker covers.

351 4V XW thru early XB,, blue with blue rocker covers.

351 2V with 2 brl carb late XB,, blue with red rocker covers.

351 2V with 4brl carb late XB/XC,, blue with blue rocker covers

351/5.8L XD/XE,, black with silver rocker covers and 5.8 sticker on RHS rocker cover.
