in a pic they gace me it said
black-ground
red+coil
brown-coil
and wires going to dissy can be swapped around depending on polarity of unit , wire in mode that works best

You'll have to pull the module out from the side of the dissy. It will have 2 black wires connected to it (one has a small terminal, the other a bit bigger). Wire your elec ignition box to these wires. Small goes to + and large goes to -. One way will work great, fitted backwards it will run like a pig.

Normally you'd connect the tacho to the coil -, but due the high voltages running thru with your new ignition MSD say don't do it. Is there a tacho output on the side of the ignition box?

yes i connected ignition wire to positive side and had a spark , i tried to start with dissy in rough position and wouldnt fire , then had trouble with the timing light , now got no spark ,there is no power on any of the leads coming out of the amp going to the dissy
i havnt tried what trublu said yet though
i cant get in contact with the bloke i got the set up from - at racing on ebay

Re: elec dissy wiring HELP

Just check all your wiring again......took me 2 days farting around and my 70 year old next door neighbour 2 seconds to fix me up

Is your 12V ignition wire going to the amp directly from the ignition circuit? ie: not your accessories? eg: if you tap a wire off your cigarette lighter, that circuit gets disabled when you turn the key to start. Spark checks great when accessories on, but turn the key and nothing.

Check all your connections for dodgy crimps etc.

Also, if you've tapped off some other accessories line you may have a blown fuse n the fuse box.

Do you have your dizzy in correctly? ie: not 180* out firing on the exhaust stroke?

I am a little lost, sorry. Let me get this straight.

You have a procomp dizzy and an MSD 6A, is that right?? If so, don't the MSDs still have a green/violet pair for magnetic pickups, or has that changed??

This is what I am used to for an MSD6

thick red : +ve bat
black thick : -ve bat
thin red : +ve ign (12V)
thin black : -ve coil
orangey brown colour : +ve coil
green/purple pair : magnetic pickup on dizzy (disconnect orig module)

Re: elec dissy wiring HELP

the amp is pc 6a procomp not msd
no spark at all , we havnt double checked that we are a turn out yet , we need a spark first
we had spark but no timing light and it fired twice , then 5 minutes later no spark at all , no power on either of the two wires going to dissy but power going to coil and out of coil( low tension )
ignition wire is opriginal wire going to old coil and weve checked that its got power when key on and when cranking

Re: elec dissy wiring HELP

if you open the box. 4 screws and 1 nut, it's written on the circuit board what each wire does.
