Finally went to the dragway!!

First run was the worst, last was the best. Had 7 runs, all within 1mph.

1st run 12.62 @ 110.83mph, 1.99 60 foot
6th run 12.47 @ 111.38mph, 1.94 60 foot

The last 2 runs i backed the timing off from the 18 initial 36 total.
5th run 12.47 @ 110.86 at 14/32 timing
6th run is above with 10/28 timing.
I think i need to get the dizzy recurved to suit the alloy heads.
Fitted in nicely to my estimate for first time attempt of 12.3-12.6

Re: Finally went to the dragway!!

good stuff mate.perhaps alittle more initial timing than 10 degrees would work better and around 28 total is where it should be with Afd heads.

Re: Finally went to the dragway!!

Congrats! Told you would be in the 12's You definately don't have 215rwkw. A car that runs the same times as you has 250rwkw.

I bet your hooked now.

Re: Finally went to the dragway!!

Yeeeha! Red hot work mate. Great effort. And she drove 400k's back home OK?

I reckon there's a few 10ths hiding in your 60 foot. What rpm you crossing the line at?

Whats your gearing and converter again? Where your old hard slicks spinning or hooking well? Looks like you didn't have any bog down issues. Hats off.

ps: So its official. Cairns' dynos = readout + 35rwkW

Re: Finally went to the dragway!!

60's should be at least 1.8. So yup, the convertor or gears are holding it back. There's improvement to be made there.

Re: Finally went to the dragway!!

Excellent work mate.Your 60 ft's are 2-3 tenths of what they should be (you were running slicks?), so there is plenty to come yet!

I forgot the tyre gauge, so i just pumped them up to 18 at the servo and didn't change it. All i took out was jack and spare tyre, and the shocks are very old, standard ford shocks. Got a video of hosing a new 350 Commodore by lots, but it came out a bit dark.5.75mb.

Yeah, some 60 foot time to find. In the videos, it seems real doey off the mark, but comes on better after that. Could be tune too??, as i'm the only one to play with it so far.
3.89 gears, 3500 converter and brand new MT 26/15/8.5 slicks hooking well, except one run only.
It was doing 5900 rpm accross the line.
(oh, trailered it down too )
