When I ran the factory tank in my XB 72lt. With a heavily modified 351/3500rpm histall and 4.11 gears. I used to get around 300-350k's per tank.

When the 351 was shagged and stock best I could manage was 200k's roughly.

Re: Fuel Economy What do you get?

Only going to pay up to $9000. Looking for a xa to xc 351 hardtop in Queensland. Probably going to try the old way of letting people come to me by putting an ad in the newspaper. If I have no success there then I will start looking myself. There are a couple of examples in Brisbane that I have been looking at and I may travel down there if I have no success where I live.

Depends on the engine setup, if its stock, has a cam, big valves, carby etc. On my 351 running LPG I get around 20 litres per 100km. (Standard driving primaries only), if I get carried away and open the secondaries up on a regular basis, there is no way I'll get 20lts per 100 more like 30+.

On fuel std use I get around 15-16 lts per 100 again if you open the secondaries, a lot less. My carby is a Thermoquad, around 630cfm.

I have an XD with a 351C, medium cam, toploader & 4.11 gears.

About the best setup for economy that you can get!! I get about 20 litres / 100km.....in cruise mode.

Driving style can make the fuel gauge move faster than the tacho at times!!

One point of truth.....it's impossible to use your primary venturis only and say I'll just drive mildly. The fun factor is just too high.

Diff gearing will make one huge difference. I'd like to try a set of 2.75's for fun. Doing 3300 rpm in 4th at 100km/h on the freeway and getting overtaken by a Hyundai Excel SUCKS!

I've got a 5 speed manual that I'll be fitting soon with a 0.68 overdrive. That will drop my RPM's by 1000 which should help.

Good Luck.

Re: Fuel Economy What do you get?

I wasn't really worried about fuel econ just more interested on the figures. When I find the car I want it is going to be more of a Sunday cruiser than anything because the better half has a mini and that is going to be our cheap run around. When buying a car this big I have always known that fuel for these things isnt going to be cheap. I'm looking for a car with more street cred than fuel econ. The hardtop range is the car I like best but if I find an XY at the right price I will of course buy it.

Re: Fuel Economy What do you get?

Fuel Economy. Cleveland. ??? wtf?

Naa, but seriously you can get good mileage out of a cleveland obviously depending on setup and driving style.

Note: Having your car tuned well helps heaps.

I have a XE with mild 351, toploader, 3.45 gears, 650DP and used to run it on gas. Only around 20rwkw less on lpg than on premium, being 225 on pulp.

was amazed when I fitted the holley and was still getting around 450-500kms per tank(sorry dunno what it holds, not sure if interceptors had bigger tanks) and was getting around the same or a little less on lpg.

You have to be concious of how you drive on the highway but. very steady throttle overwize GULP GULP.

still 5kms less of stomping the loud pedal is worth not letting the riceburner zip past ya. :)
