Question Gas and what else?

Hi all that can help,

Ive been car-less for a bit to long now and have found an xd that has caught my fancy.

"XD Fairmont Ghia, worked 351 Cleveland, Yellaterra roller rockers, 550 cam, Edelbrock manifold, Pro Comp dizzy, 750 Holley, thermo etc, C4 Stage 2 shiftkit, 2-1/2 stall, twin system....."

For me to be able to afford to run this beast, i would like to throw it on straight gas, ive been reading alot about this stuff and asking other ff users, just wondering if there is anyone else that can help with anything i should know before i go about buying it...

Thanks to all that can help, thanks for your time in advance..

Re: Gas and what else?

Yep, straight LPG can be done without too many hassles in most cases. 3 things i'd be looking for would be:
1. A car with the tank already installed and still in date (save $1200+ straight away)
2. Hardened valve seats already installed (save $500 at least)
3. A decent single plane manifold already installed (another $500).

I did mine the hard way and paid for everything to be installed after I bought the car. Don't fall into that trap!

Either way there are plenty of us in these forums running on straight LPG. Mine will be hitting the dyno tomorrow to see if the new cam i've just installed was worth the effort!

Just like a Tsunami.

Thanks man, wat do you rekon would be a good price to pay for the above^...?

im not to worried about the price of the tank and that, just want to know what needs to be done...would the lift of that cam be too much etc...?

Re: Gas and what else?

Depending on condition? I'd say anywhere between $3000-$5000 is a decent deal. Although it wouldn't be EPA legal due to the carb and manifold. So if you want to register it? The only legal way is gas.

Cam's vary some have a short duration to open close the valve quickly and high lift to allow fuel to flow in. Some go the otherway having smaller lift but larger duration, holding the valve open longer to allow fuel in.
