Go Hard .... and Told to Go Home

My brother and I hit Willowbank on the weekend for a little bit of fun.

Both cars went quite hard, hard enough to be told to go home by track officials anyway.

Was a great race, doorhandle to doorhandle as they say. His FULL BODIED XD, ran 10.97 @ 126. My FULL BODIED XC Coupe ran 10.86 @ 124. Not too shabby for a pair of clevos, no gas, no weight reductions, running on optimax with an additive I thought.

Go the clevo's!!!!

Very good times straight of the bat to .
Did you drive the cars to the track or trailer them .
That does suck that they sent you home what was the reason (under certain time)

We could have very easily driven them to the track but we trailered them up there for convenience. Just dropped pipes and ran slicks. Both are registered street cars and are "pretty much" street legal. We probably only go to the track twice a year if that. Neither car has a roll cage. The XD has standard seat belts!! Run under 11.00 and you need a full cage and an ANDRA license.

Would have been nice to try and chase a tune on either car but that's the way it goes. We're not complaining, we knew the rules before we went, we just wanted to prove it.

Very impressive results, Coupeman.

I'm not sure that most people appreciate how hard it is to make a full bodied, full weight falcon run high tens (or even elevens). Your making some serious power out of a pump petrol normally aspirated small block.

Congratulations, on a job well done.

Nice results. Can we have any details on the setups?

XD runs my old engine. Standard stroke 351, 4V closed chamber heads, Ross Pistons, BIG Comp Cams solid roller. Active Manifold and HP 950 Pro. Cylinder pressure 190. C4 with 5000 converter and 4:11's - Car is actually undergeared in my opinion.

XC runs 351/378 stroker. Aluminium C302b cylinder heads, 950 HP Pro, Ross Pistons, Big Comp Cams Solid Roller, Nascar block etc etc etc. Bob Grant C4, 5000 converter, 4:56 gears. Cylinder pressure 190.

As you can well imagine, these engines weren't cheap.

Cheers

Cheers Bill,

You're dead right though. There are plenty around claiming to have 10 second streeters but you don't see too many at the track, let alone the street. What you DO see, is plenty of fibreglass, no interiors, methanol etc etc...some street car!

There's plenty to it and it's no secret it costs plenty of money. In both my brother's and my case, it didn't happen over night. Like I said, these are street cars and they see 99% street 1% track. For reliability, you have to use high quality components or you're begging for trouble, and that costs $$$. There's no shortcuts. The car is only as strong as it's weakest link.

Good luck with your XY.
