Hey guys

As ive posted in other threads my engine will be coming out very soon and im starting to source bits for it now, my current cam is a Comp cams solid roller with 670thou lift and 248/254 duration @50, with the 408 setup is very streetable but i want to step it up a notch with a higher durationed and slightly higher lift (no more than 720) camshaft, been looking at the comp cams site but havent been able to find anything to suit any suggestions also along with the new cam we will this time fit oil restrictors deciding wether its worth bronzing the lifter bores?? and also increasing compression but have decided against the methanol 14.1 comp route and want to know whats the most i can push it compression wise and still get away with runnin Ultime98 with a good adative and avgas at the drags??

With 98ron and the CHI's you can go as much as 11.5:1 possibly 12:1. I know you can go between 12->13:1 with a massive cam. A the huge it bleeds off the pressure.

I've ran 91ron in mine with the CHI's @ 11.2:1 static (185psi cranking pressure). Drove all the way to Bendigo (Heathcote) and back on it. Almost 500k's round trip.

Have you spoke to John @ CHI about cam selection. As quite a few people on these forums have stated. Off the shelf cams don't ideally suit the heads. John should be able to pick a suitable custom cam. It's even more difficult for you due to your windsor block. As windsors weren't known for their well breathing heads

You best cam will be a totally custom heads setup for the windsor block but taking into account the alloy heads.

I sent an email to him not long ago regarding cam chose my email accounts been down for a while so im not sure wether he's emailed back, I will email him again and just see what he advises to use im running 11.1 at the moment and have run PULP without it havin any hiccups didnt ping or anything but it didnt like standard unleaded, i was aiming for 12.5.1 I figured with the alloy heads i should be able to get away with.

Can you PM me with the engine spec, details and what exactly you want to do? Put serveral combo's if you like? I am going to see John tomorrow to pick my heads and new manifold up. I'd be happy to pass on the info on paper for John to email or ring you back.

[edit] With the size of the cam's your looking at I wouldn't be surprised if you could get away with 12.5:1.
