i have put a 351 (82 model block) into my XC the problem is that the distributor on the 351 has the electric module built into it whereas the 302 that i have removed has the module in the engine bay, my question is this how do i change the wiring on the xc wiring loom so that it will be compatible with the new distributor, (need to change wiring loom from external module to internal module).
any help will be appreciated as this is the only thing holding me up from getting the car going again

Take a look at the thread about the Xc style electronic igintion model. I've posted a circuit diagram and said what wires do what.
ok well how do i wire up a distributor with the module on the side to my car then?
I am guessing your not electrically minded? As it's pretty straight forward. I'll run you through it. Although it's hard for me without having the wires in my hands. It's just the way I work.
16 Red/Lt Green (ignition feed) <--You need to find this wire on the ignition box. Run this to the "+" side of the coil
57 Ground <--this wire according the the circuit diagram goes to the disributor but from memory thats only in a points ignition car. You don't need to fit this wire from memory.
648 Pink/Lt blue (tacho) <--This wire runs to the "-" side of the coil
851 Lt Green/white ("+" distributor/coil) <--discard and ignore
852 Brown/white ("-" distributor/coil) <-- discard and ignore
Run a wire from the coils "-" side to the modules "-" side.
Run a wire from the coils "+" side to the modules "+" side.
me thinks that you blew the ignition module...
we done the same thing, and been looking for the module for a few days, we found 2... one was 80 bux, the other 30 from a guy we knew....

XE Fairmont Ghia... Silver/Grey Met over black, soon to be v8, cant wait till i get another v8, after 3 LONG HARD YEARS
Yup sounds like it or maybe the module was dead before?
Was color are the wires running from the XD module? I am sure someone else here with an XD/ICE style ignition can tell you which color wire goes to the "-"/"+" side for the coil.
I can't although mine works exactly the same as an XD/ICE style system. Wire colors might be the same but they maybe reversed. I run an aftermarket Accel electronic dizzy.
