i understand GT ceased to be made in 1976
yet this car has a load of GT like options and a GT comp plate on the radiator suport.
I have been told by GT club members they have seen this before on xc,s - on ex police cars and cobras. (this car was ordered from factory as is)-(the guy i got it from was the original owner)
Anyways the car was purchased from and elderly family friend and he has told me it was ordered from factory with all the options shown in paperwork.
its done like 132000ks and is in great nick aside from a few add on parts.
and has spent 16 of its 27 years in a garage for storage.
some of the options are
dash - like gxl but slightly different
rallye pack
twin ballance exhuast
cheviot hotwires
decal - bonet strip - which is white painted over black like on a cobra
springs
shocks - sports handling pack
disc brakes
9 inch LSD
toploader 4 speed manual
high dif ratio - think he said 2 7 1
anyways that brings me to the question of is it a falcon with a load of GT options ordered from factory or a pack that ive not read about.
he also mention that it was a John Goss although i see no evidence of this perhaps he just read the JG in the serial no ?
anyhow look forward to hearing what you guys think
I've owned a few XC's, and it sure sounds odd ball in spec level. One possibility is maybe it was a Police pursuit package that was also available to the public or what was called an Alan Moffet Special. John Goss Specials were all 2 door XB coupes as far as I knew...
9 inch diff and toploader are unusual for a 302 in a XC. You absolutely sure it's not a BW78 and single rail? Pretty sure the Alan Moffet specials had single rails and BW diffs, albeit in LSD disc form.
Twin exhaust, disc brakes, handling pack and "gxl" dash agreed I've never seen on a 302 Falcon as a spec. I've only ever seen these on a 351 XC or 302-351 XC GXL or Alan Moffet special.
Either way a good find, if it is a 9inch and toploader, then super rare.
Man that look's like you got one very rare vehicle there, you should get in contact with a GT club and ask them, they would be the best to ask, but if I were you I wouldn't change a thing on it.

btw, my friend had a pursuit car, xc gs 351, loader and 9", and it has a funny speedo, cant remember now......i think it had more accurate markings, or an extra light, in front of the guage or sumthin.

Clock was standard on Fairmont,so a Fairmont GS would have one. They were optional on all XCs.
Twin Exhausts and rear disks were both optional on ALL 302s. GXL dash was available on all GS rally packs six and 8 clyinder, Falcon and Fairmont.
The rear disks and LSD came as a package, but it was possible to get a 302 with drums and an LSD.
I have not seen the "G.T" on the production tag before but from the bonnet paintwork it looks like an Allan Moffat Special. All rally packs and Cobra have R Pack designation.
Toploader and 9 inch would not be original items for this car.
The original wheels for this car would have been grey painted 12 slots with black hubcaps.
The blue oval badge is not original as these were fitted with the 78 update.
