Hi rise clevo shaker

I have been told for me to run a hornet scoop, i will need a different
bonnet as the shaker holes are too big. So i am back on the idea
of running a modified shaker, and incorperating a "real" sealed cold
air type. The only thing is, is the TFC manifold make the shaker
scoop part sit very high. I am sure i could fabricate a good sealed box,
then use the original rubber surround so i can't see through the gap
into the engine bay, basically like the factory.
Question, would it look crap sitting this high?
This is the scoop sitting right on the aicleaner top.

Re: Hi rise clevo shaker

If you could find a way to fill the gap and make it look like a single piece it wouldn't be unlike a hornet scoop, it should look good.

Re: Hi rise clevo shaker

That would look OK all sealed up nice.

But just for extra info....I used to have a shaker and bought a hornet scoop. That big white beacon on my bonnet which needs painting
<-------------------------------

I got a scare when the hole was bigger than I'd anticipated, but it fits "just" fine. By the sounds of things, you're only planning on using the smallest hornet scoop, without the base??.....inwhich case, yes, the hole would be too big. But if you use the hornet base as shown in my pics it will cover the hole no problem. There's about a 20mm overlap on the sides which is where it gets close.

Just a few pics from different angles for you. That's a weiand with 2" spacer and 3" filter (4" including filter base and nut). I have about 1 1/2" clearance from the top of the scoop..........just couldn't quite fit a 5" filter in.

[edit]........you'll have to remove that skirting on the shaker hole to fit a hornet scoop otherwise it won't sit flat.

You're right, it is filthy, with cobwebs all over it. I never clean it if its not drivable. Thats is its punishment for breaking
Thanks for the pics of the scoop. Is yours the 135mm Hornet scoop?
We don't have any shops in Cairns that stock them, so its hard to get
a good idea for what i need. I would need the extra height of the base, as i want to add some height to the carby spacer as well, and it sits quite high allready.
Where did you get yours?

Make up a surround and use the shaker; it'll look good.

I bought mine in Perth @ A1 Performance, knowingly got ripped @ $150 but I couldn't wait for the mail order. They're normally about $120-130 + postage for you.

Mine it the Street Scoop (105mm tall), product code "stscooplow" @ Superplus. It measures H: 10.5cm W: 39cm L: 60cm.

Few links for ya.

http://www.superplus.com.au/otherProducts.php?pageID=16

http://www.spoilerfactory.com.au/bonnet-scoops.html

The scoop @ spoilerfactory only measures 330mm wide??? so I'd be questioning them. They may have only measured the top part of the scoop and not the base.

Re: Hi rise clevo shaker

If you want to keep the shaker why not get the centre of a BA v8 bonnet grafted to yours? I havnt seen it done yet and think it would look horn! Just an idea.

If you are talking about the ba buldge it would look nice but costs a fair bit more than a scoop .
I might be doing this to my XA coupe if the engine don't fit .To get the bonnet made the way I want it 5-6 grand
