Re: Hi rise clevo shaker

My shaker also sits very high due to the Impco 425 and a custom 3/4" spacer.

I like it that way and didn't want it peering sheepishly out of the bonnet as if it had to ask permission to be seen, but instead I wanted it "in ya face – all you LS1 owners", and saying "yeah I'm here, I’m mean, and what ya gonna do about it".

The rubber around the edge is stretched to the limit, but I like it - and that's all that matters.
(I know you want to, but DON'T go there !)

I'll try and get a pic to show you what I mean, but I warn you - she's a bit chipped and dirty (like me).

I think I could be eating too much liquorice.

Well, i mocked up a cardboard one to get measurments and see how it sits, and i think i am nearly ready for the Hornet scoop. lol.
It will work, but i don't want it looking too freaky
This is how it would look.

Re: Hi rise clevo shaker

Spray paint your cardboard black and just leave it at that!.....not sure if that masking tape will hold @ 120mph.

Doesn't look too bad afterall.

Re: Hi rise clevo shaker

If you stick with the shaker idea, you will need the rubber surround to absorb the motor moving from side to side under torque. I've chained my motor down at the front of the block and also where the bellhousing bolts up so that most of the torque is absorbed by the chasis. This way I don't have to worry about breaking more engine mounts, and I get to 'rock and roll' at the lights.

I've uploaded a couple of pics of various shaker heights and will try to display them here . . .

Note the variation between the white XE in the foreground and the XY in the background.

Re: Hi rise clevo shaker

xdclevo you could start a new trend with that design...

Personally IMO the shaker scoops though traditional and still an essential must for an XY, now look pretty dated compared to the Hornet scoops.

From a functional point of view - getting cold air into the carb the Hornet scoops work better also, providing you get the carb uphigh enough.

In case you didn't understand, i dislike hornet scoops. If i have to run one i will, but if i can get away with using the shaker, i would much prefer it, as long as it doen't look weird. Was that a photshopped scoop u posted??

No it's real, i have seen it in Johns garage, i don't know what he used to have under it to need that much clearance but, i think it would be better on the drivers side roof, then he wouldn't need to bend his head over to fit in.
