I've always loved these style scoops, I'm not too worried about the legalities and have a spare GS bonnet that I can cut the hole in and keep my original bonnet untouched just in case.....

Obviously its not sitting correctly, but you get the idea.

Should I do it ?

If you've got the spare bonnet then I say yeah go for it, cut it into the gs one and put the gt one in safe keeping!

It's a matter of personal choice. My bonnet (flutes but no pins) has a hole cut but the factory XB bonnet (flutes and pins) I'd never cut.

No way, it's ugly and would attract the wrong kind of attention.
Hornet scoops look better and more subtle.

I don't like it but I don't like anything coming out of these bonnets as I just don't think the lines and curves like to accept anything messing them up .
Xa-Xc bonnets are a pain in the butt to find anything that will suit a highrise manifold scoop etc .I have nearly finished doing a custom bonnet for my Xa because I couldn't find anything that would look right .

In saying all of the above it still comes down to your personal choice and if you like it then thats all that matters .I prefer not but still think it will look tuff in its own way

If manily a streeter, and you don't have to run a scoop, i say don't(i like near stock).
I have allways run a shaker, but since the manifold sits too high, i thought my only option was a hornet sccop, but instead fabricated a new base to run the shaker again. I'm not a fan of hornet sccops for the street, cause i don't want any reason for mr plod to pull me over(again). They wern't happy last week with the aircleaner poking its head out the bonnet

Yep, I agree, if you're going a steel scoop out the bonnet, bug catchers look cool. But you already have the Hilborn, so not really an option.

Remember too, that's it's what you like that is the number one reason for doing a mod. Quote, "I've always loved these style scoops". Your passion for one of these is answer enough to whack it on!! Nothing to lose with the spare bonnet available and easily removed.

My only other consid is legalities. They're not legal and would wave the canary flag a bit

But what the heck eh! You'll always be kicking yourself if you don't

60's style scoop on a 70's style car?... NO! Stick with a hornet and avoid hassles.
