long and short engines

Been new to the game I was wondering what people mean by this term? Thanks

Short engine: block, pistons, sump etc
Long engine: short engine + Heads, everything.

depends who you are talking to. :p

long usually means heads, manifolds, water pump, etc.

but not always carby, dizzy, alternator, etc.

depends who your dealing with.
