Hi guys picked yp my engine last week and need advice on following
Distributor!!
Msd or Pro comp or New Crane
What would you recomend?
I was going the msd billet with a 6 digi, but a couple of speed shops i phoned said the crane and box for around a grand is good. Hence my confusion.
Also is anyone running the ford racing alloy rocker cover's and if so are you using Arp bolt's on them or the supplied one's.
And lastly do these dizzy's need the gear replaced for a solid cam cam i have is 248/258 and 596/606 svo solid.

Go the MSD. Go to your local bolt shop and get cap screw bolts for the covers. The 4 long ones are 4.5" and the others can either be 1" or 3/4". I used 1" ones. No the dizzy drive will be find for a solid cam.

Thanks Brenx the reason on the cover's was i brought a arp accessorie bolt kit the chrome moly 12 point set and the engine builder still has these cover bolts and it detract's from the overall look with the standard one's they came with. His reason was they were not long enough. Yeah i will probably go the Msd just have to be stonger and say just sell me what i f**cken want instead of trying to upsell me!!!! I will try and post a pick of the engine today before it get's painted. Looks good with the TFC manifold on it. One other thing when running in the cam should i take out the inner valve spring's?

Cap screws look nice. They are allen key headed bolts. You can see them in this pic -->> here

They'll either sell you what is in stock or what makes them more profit. Yes, remove the inner springs. It's a pain in the butt to do on car but it's something that we have to do to prevent wiping out lobes. It's not a job I look forward too.

azza, if you can, get an ARP stud kit for the valve covers. It just makes it easier to take off covers and adjust valves ect, as the studs hold the gasket in place, and makes it easier and quicker to get back together. Nothing worse than the gaskets falling in towards the rollers from the top, or falling down towards the extractors while trying to persuade the bolts to go through the gasket and into the head.

Yep, I bought the thread rod for a few bucks, cut stud lengths to size and fitted chrome cap nuts.

yeas thats whatr I plan to do, I used about 5 of the bolts from my 352 W kit now I need all the bolts foir my clevo heads, cheaper to cut the rod and just buy off the shelf stainless nutz, and washeres much cheaper.

Before buying have a look at some of the new Mallory gear out now. JMO.
