Before I do any engine rebuild I do a lot of research to make sure I am going to get the maximum horse power out of my rebuild, including head flow to get the correct combination the first time round.

This is the make up of my Engine Combo :

BLOCK
XD block bored to 30 thou
4MA Crank
302 Rods & APR rod bolts
Ross racing pistons (full floating)
Gapless rings (and these are very expensive little F*****S let me tell u)

HEADS
4V close chamber
flow figures - IN / 590, EX / 400 ( no putty or tongues yet)
Militon roller rockers with 7/16 screw in studs
PSI Valve springs
Solid roller cam
645 Inlet & 625 Exhaust
262 Inlet & 268 Exhaust @ 50
Crane roller lifters horizontal

MANIFOLD
Weiand tunnel ram
twin 650 holleys (modified by Kenny who does all C&V Performance Dyno Tuning & he does half the cars that race at WSID Raceway)
MSD dizzy
Magna coil leads
MSD 6AL
Raymac balancer

Would be very Interested to know what your opinions are on the above Combo and what horse power you might think it will put out !!!!

Sounds good. At least 350hp @ the treads and somewhere in the 11's is my guess.

This engine combo is going into a TD Cortina. I got the 4V's for an absolute steal. How does $1000 complete sound, but I put the PSI valve springs in as the guy was desperate for money. It pays to be in the right place at the right time ayh.

The whole engine cost me :
all machine work to the bottom end with Raymac balancer inc balanced bottom end $1300
I got the rods and pistons from another sucker for $700
the most expensive parts for the engine was the roller cam $580
Roller lifters $800
Gapless rings $350
gasket kit for free ( another sucker)
tunner ram brand new top to bottom $1500 (modified work was extra)

Most of these guys were desperate for money and I just happened to be in the right place at the right time.

do any of you guys know how much the Ross Pistons are worth these days??

Its tunnel rammed with a pretty big camshaft didnt mention compression though or wether it was gonna be a manual or auto id say 390-420rwhp if auto 430-450 with manual. good luck with it

Pistons probably worth around $1200 depends if they are customs or not and what grade pins they use.

That thing should rev like nothing else but at anything over 550Hp I would think that the std rods would be the weakest link, but for what you paid who cares.

Maybe a big single plane tfc and dominator carb might work better! but with the 4v heads i dont know! This engine sound's goodand should rev pretty hard, i would change rod's to at least a I but not many brand's around so a H will be dearer but stronger and buy the best damm rod bolt you can. ARP have the pro series bolt 220,000 psi from memory and you shouldn't do these up buy tension but by stretch.
For me i would say 400 RWHP and a high 9 at 132-135 depening on gearing and tyre.
your sixty footer's would be intersting probably get whiplash!!!
