Optimax V/S BP Ultimate

What is the verdict between Shell Optimax and BP Ultimate. I am finding them both to be very similar.

I don't know what the prices are like everywhere else but here in central queensland, Rockhampton Ultimate is about $1.14 and Optimax is $1.08 so i'm sticking Optimax for everyday use in the old XF and use it along with Pro Strength Octane Boost in the XY which has never gave me any problems. The Ultimate is just too expensive compared to optimax and they are the same octane rating just i've heard that ultimate is a cleaner fuel and better on fuel lines and carbys.

Re: Optimax V/S BP Ultimate

I had heard that Ultimate was the better fuel, but I am in the Northern Territory and there is no Optimax in the bowsers. We have to buy it from the wholesalers in drums and that means you need to carry a dangerous goods certificate and all that. BP Ultimate is in the bowsers but it is $1.30 per litre.

Performance wise they'd be 50/50. BP fumes smell better after a flogging.

Damn Victoria...........Optimax in my town is $1.20+..........even with my 4c Coles shop'a'docket

I think bp ultimate is the go. You can run 11.6 compression with bp ultimate with alloy heads with no detonation at all. Toca performance did a test on this fuel and could run high compressions with no trouble. Can run up to 12.1 with a octane booster added.

I won't use either in my Clevo, i will only use Mobil Synergy 8000, it is the only fuel that seems to give hassle ping free performance.

Re: Optimax V/S BP Ultimate

We have only just got the BP Ultimate here but have always had the Optimax so i might swap over to the Ultimate for a while and try it. The xy's runnin 11.8:1 compression and its not to bad on optimax but i run it now with octane boost as well.
