if i fit a ford motorsport roller rocker kit for pedstal heads do i need taller rocker covers?
i have old alloy mt (micket thomson) covers at the mo

I use standard covers on my 351 with rollers so you should be fine.
Years ago I used Holley alloy covers on a car with a F246 and it banged the tip of the rollers onto these little studs on the inside on the covers. I broke the studs off and all was fine. The studs were there for oil drainback purposes I suspect.

The clearance problem only kicks in when you use stud girdles....
I've got a pair of the 4" tall Ford racing covers so never gunna have any internal clearance problems... just external ones...

I'm sure they make cheap chrome (Morosso tall style) copies for $80 somewhere !!!

Be careful with the morosso's they have no baffles to the PCV will suck oil and foul your plugs and cause detonation. I've seen it on two clevo's runng morosso covers so far.

well i allready have a set of old school mt alloy finned rocker covers so i guess they should b fine by the sound of it

Would this cause detonation throughout the rev range, or only under light loads,
I wouldnt think there'd be too much vacuum through the PCV under moderate to hard acceleration?

A lot of cheap rocker covers lack baffles. Not such a bargain.

Not a bargain at all. I'm having to convert to a breather setup and I'm kicking myself I didn't think of it when I bought the covers.

Brendan, you said the other day that breater setups cause problems with the oil getting deposits in it.... would a breather tank fix that? Because I can get one for $100 and it wouldn't be a problem to install. Cheers.
