Bounty

Got up this morning, jumped in the old xf, turned the key, and got about an 1/8th of a turn and it started clicking. sometimes it does nothing. 351 manual. seprate solinoid. tryed to bypass it but nothing. no idea, anybody have any? im hoping it will only be the solinoid, as it will be a 5 min job. starter could take me an hour or so

Battery??

At a stretch; in the past I have had a problem with poor wiring from the stalker control to the wires going to and coming from the solenoid. After putting a new wiring harness in, all was solved. But really, sounds like a dead battery to me though.
