G'Day,

Just wondering what RPM a stock 351 balancer is good to - when would you upgrade to aftermarket job?

Planned revs 6000-6500rpm.

I revved a cleveland way over that regularly..but looking back it wasn't the smartest. If you are going to be giving it a bootfull, it's wise to invest in a better steel damper at least. I think that at high RPMs the stock rubber starts to unbond itself and can alter your timing when you adjust it ( because it has slipped relative to the correct position on the crank ) or I have heard of cades it it just parting company.

Get a new one, it will be cheap insurance, mine is good for 7000rpm, i think it cost me $150.00 .

Stock ones in good condition are good for up to 6,000 ish.

Honestly like everyone else has said, buy an aftermarket one.

I bought a ROMAC for just over $240 and it's good for 9,000rpm.
