ok sorry i cant figure out how to post the pics as an image right now so i put links. im about to rebuild my 351c and i found this hole and am wondering if its normal
i looked online at some pics and think that there is supose to be a hole there but i dont know. im only concerned because of the jagged edges and there was a broke pushrod in there too

It looks a bit ugly but without having one apart to look at then im really not sure. Where does the hole go to. It looks like it goes into the area where the distributor drive is but if its into the water jacket then thats a big problem.

i dont think it goes to the water. i drove it like this for awhile and really didnt notice much besides it ran a bit rough but thats explaind by the broken exhaust push rod i found in there.

It is an oil drain back and helps to keep the cam/distributor gear well lubed. All 351C are like this.

Dont think that is one of Fords best engineering design decisions , but hey , it seems to work .

i spent some time on it with a rat tail file when the block was on the stand. actually i spent a lot of time going over the whole thing, you could wressle with it for a week and not get a scratch!

nedhill's doesn't look bad at all compared to some that look like a piece is ready to break off

i think Ford used a punch to knock out a bit of the casting to create the hole
