I have given up on the toploader, the "strong" input shaft i got from the states twisted after 3 laps around the block.
I have bought a C6 with stage II shit kit and 5000rpm convertor, hopefully it will do the job.
I am collecting parts : shifter, cooler, flex plate etc....
Question, does anyone have a C6 in an XA ? i would like to know exactly what it requires, what i do know is, exhaust may need adjustment on drivers side and i may need to change tailshaft length, i'm not sure if i can use the toploader cross member, i would also like to know if i can use a repro console for an XA as well, any info appreciated.

Why C6 and not a C4? Any particular reason. No question that a c6 can be built to withstand punishment but they are heavier and rob more hp than the c4.

Main reason is i see so many C4's break, im willing to trade a liltte power loss for some peace of mind, my research has shown the C6 to be a more robust option, see here :

I think you have been reading too many of Brenx,s posts about his C4 failures. Truth is i have seen cars with over 700hp with c4,s live. I think you just may have to find a trans builder that has a sound reputation for building bulletproof C4,s

You are probly right Russ, i got this box second hand out of an XD running 10's it was recently freshened up and reasonably priced so i grabbed it when i had the chance.
