as a rule of thumb 1hp per cubic inch is considred very mild so what your after in the clevo will be achivable using aftermarket intake carby extractors and a cam in the 235 range, you wouldnt be far of this output even with the 2v heads untouched. Dont forget that the 2v's have 2.02 and 165 inch valves and resonable ports as is so u could get away with this very cheap.
If your intrested in having a motor built let me know i might b able to help :)

I wouldn't think for $3K that you would be able to do either. A stock rebuild of a 351 is going to cost around $2K, might be able to get a bit cheaper if you shop around but you tend to get what you pay for as far as quality, this is presuming you have a 351 already. If not you'll have to buy one s/h from newspaper or Trading Post etc, another $500 - $800. Then there's carby, manifold, dizzy, exhaust etc etc and you still need a gearbox and possibly a diff.
If you can buy something already done for this go for it but check it out before you hand over your hard earned. Best to see it running in a car, test drive if possible, and do a compression test. If your not mechanically minded take a mate who is, or take the car to a workshop you can trust and ask them to check it out.
There was someone here on FF that was trying to sell a turbo 6cyl EA a while back, I think they wanted $5 or $6K though, this would probably blow your budget.

Why not go one up and fit a turbo 351 Clevo, been done plenty of times before, sweet noise as well a bulk power :s3
Wouldnt need a lot of boost and you would make lots of low down torque from the Clevo!

A cleveland would be less hassle IMO (and my preference ) .. but if you can bring yourself to cope with wires and stuff.. whats wrong with a 4.0 OHC out of a EB -> with a turbo? The motors are a world ahead of the old 4.1 cross flow and are relatively cheap these days.
If your buying the V8 for power make sure u have 4V heads and big carby. If your buying it for speed, go P/P 2V matched to a P/P manifold. Nothing sounds better than a V8 of its nut tho. The turbo 6 is just something differnt coz not that many ppl have these in their XE's. Think of the heat, maybe intercooling, and larger air induction for the turbo. To tell you the truth, Id just settle with a tough V8 and put a turbo on that if you feel the need, would prolly cost the same, depending on the intake you make up for it.

Nothing beats the sound of a V8
Yeah i am leaning towars the 351 i think.
Seems to make more sense. The turbo six would be cool but mainly because its somehitng different, which i dont care about. Also i wont have to get it engineered as the xe came with 351.
Whats the best manifold for the 351 for low down torque with lpg?
Clevo would be doing it lazy (=reliable), the 6 would be stressed for that type of horses. Best mate had a turbo XD, engine rebuild every 50,000km. 3 boxes and 2 diffs in a year so standard running gear will not cope!!!. Did it go though.

I am not sure what you mean by if you want power use 4V heads or if you want speed use 2Vs...
2V heads top out at about 470 horse... there are very very few clevelands out there really putting out that sort of HP. The bonus with 2Vs is they are cheap and plentiful.
Having said that, I love 4Vs and they have more ultimate power.. but unless you are chasing a genuine 500+ Hp ( and looking at low 11 quarters) then I see no reason to spend the extra except for pose value!
