I had 4V on my XF, was tuff as the power was there and so was the speed. Especially for dragstrip.
2V Heads allow alot more airspeed than 4V do so thats y u see a number of "draggers" porting 2V heads to be getting more into the engine than 4V. There is stuff on the net about all this, I will post a URL when I find it. Love V8s, love 4Vs...go the eight!

How would a 6 cylinder run with a low compression ratio like 8:1 without forced induction? Say in the buildup stages of a turbo.

Thanks
dan

Run like shit! You could run it on standard unleaded but, wont get any better performance from LRP or Premium petrol until the turbo is fitted.

I had 4vs on my XB years ago and 2Vs on the xa ..and they run the same over the 1/4. The XA has a smaller cam, dual plane manifold and skinnier tyres, slightly lower gearing (3.0 in the XB, 3.25 in the XA ) and restrictive exhaust. The XB had far more potential .. but on the street and in street configuration there was stuff all in it.

i always thought 2V heads are best for streetability.

2V's have a smaller volume and hence low down power is better,

the 4V's are best for really hi-po engines as they have huge port volume and the power comes in more when the revs get up a bit

it's all relative. A set of properly worked 2Vs flow better that chev fuellie heads which for a long time were one of the best heads for chevs. No one complained abou the power they were getting from them.

People that reckon you can only make power with 4vs need to wake up and smell the roses

Re: Turbo 6 or 351 Clevo? Cant decide

heheh if ya got the cash why not combine the 351c with a nice twin turbo setup? You'd get the best out of both worlds and could kill any ricer on the street:D But if ya don't wanna do that i'd go the turbo six. Do some work on the engine, bigger injectors (1000cc:D:D) and a good turbo. With that you could still kill most ricers.

Re: Turbo 6 or 351 Clevo? Cant decide

Hallam Performance told me the best 351 2v they have had on their dyno showed 301rwkw !!!!, so it can be done.

Re: Turbo 6 or 351 Clevo? Cant decide

personally i have a 351 in my car, if i had the choice again, i would have gone turbo 6!!!!!!! but u really need about 10k to do a proper job, i.e. forged pistions, rods, turbos are about $2500 for a GT40 roller bearing, comuter, injectors, $600 for a steampipe manifold, intercooler........... heaps of stuff, but u have the potential to make 600hp + at the wheels........

the is a blue cortina running 200ci six, crossflow head, T04, big plenium etc....
makes 750hp at the motor and runs 9.4 at around 145mph.....
there are a number of xd/xe/xf in melbourne that are running in the tens with lpg turbo setups! if you build a mild clevo you may get sick of the power? then i just keeps on costing you more and more the further you go.....
turbo six, i you want more wind up the boost..................

turbo 6 all the way...................................

Thumbs up Re: Turbo 6 or 351 Clevo? Cant decide

To make things a whole lot easier why don't you look for a xd - xf with a 250turbs or 351 already in it and set up then modify all you like. Would cut labour fee's instalation fee's ect.
