Upgrading my Clevo

my xa coupe has a 351 clevo with the following:

- 351 with open chamber 351 heads (2v)
- Torque Power dual plane manifold
- 750cfm holley street avenger vac sec
- large hydraulic cam
- MSD Electronic Dizzy (stand alone)
- roller rockers
- tri y packmakers ceramic coated
- 3.9 diff gears billet axles
- Manual (toploader)

This combo got 235rwkw. (never had it down the quarter). After a year time to hunt for more. Looking to upgrade with

- CHI alloy heads
- solid cam and lifters
- Barry Grant 750DP Demon
- Keep the Torque Power Dual Plane

Havent decided what CHI or solid cam yet. The car is rarely driven (saturday nite special)

Has anyone else got a similar combo and if so what kind of results have you got.

2vs were very heavily ported. 4v valves. Roller Rockers (yella terra). Dont know the RPM, pretty sure not more than 5000rpm.

Have attached link to dyno chart

351

would be happy with 12s (as i said never had the current combo down the quarter)

more what im looking for is the potential rwkw and quarter that could be had with the cam/head and carby change ive mentioned

the current combo that you have will get you in the 12's,as long as the heads dont have poor air velocity...

really speaking, with the head/cam/carby package that you intend to buy, could make 500 hp,but not with the dual-plane manifold...
you would need to go to a single-plane...

if you wanted to keep the torque-power dual-plane,then up to 450 would be possible...and this could see you into the low 12's...

do you intend to keep the toploader..wide or close ratio?

Good advice thanks mate. going to keep the toploader...its the factory wide ratio.

Re: Upgrading my Clevo

My first combo was similar to what you are chasing, except i had 2v close chambers. With the toploader the best i managed aws mid 13's , its a bugger when the linkages keep binding up. Put a auto in and the car was much nicer to drive and race. If you want the power you will have to go to a single plane manifold. JMO Craig.

Re: Upgrading my Clevo

I seriously doubt it would run 12's now, why not give it a try and see where its at before you change it further.
