Also, do you add any lead replacement?

I used to use Moreys upper cylinder lube, but now just use BP ultimate as the heads are set up for unleaded.

what about a stock 351... does a higher octane unleaded eleviate the need for a lead replacement additive?

Each time you fill up at the servo for fuel just FART in your tank. Thats enough octane rating for 120.

No you'll still need the upper cyl lubricant. It's easier not to bother and just run unleaded. The $ you save can be spent on setting the heads up for unleaded at a later date. Don't run any less than 95ron.

BP ultimate for me. Used to use shell optimax but suffered the odd bit of pinging under lower revs with hi load.

Yeh i use BP ultimate98 or avgas

if i cant make it to a BP i just use premium unleaded with an octane booster depends on your compression ration really and wether its pinging????

No the lead replacement additive is a lubricant. Octane rating (of fuel)determines whether the engine will ping or not. Higher compression engines require higher octane fuel, or a Knock sensor to retard/cut the ignition. (it has a little microphone that picks up the pinging)
