Kendal 20-50w at the moment. Most likely will change to Penrite once I'm due for an oil change. Which is this coming Monday or Tues.

I was using HPR15 for the first couple thou in my 351... I will be moving onto HPR30 now.
Penrite have a really good tech department, give them a call. I have talked with them a couple times and A motor with good ring seal, under heavy load but in good condition should be using HPR30. Nothing thicker. I mentioned to them the guide given on the bottle as You would be more incclinded to run 40 or 50 going off their's guides and they say thats just to cover a wide basis. which i can understand.

if pulling load, you know how good your motor cond. is, I would run HPR30..

yes pracy ive been running valvoline 10-30 lo vis mineral oil on my 4000 km old engine .been been dumping it every 1000 to 1500 for a few times then i guess every 5000 once it has some miles on it.havent heard of any one using this oil but yes might give penrite a call.

Have been a valvoline fan for many years but recently put Fuchs in our "reborn" drag engine. I had an issue with the pickup screen getting sucked into the end of the pickup pipe. We were "playing" down our back road and once over 5000revs or so it would loss its oil pressure for 4 or 5 seconds before it recovered......must have happened 8 or 10 times before I noticed it, was alittle busy trying to keep the thing straight. Pulled the caps off and barely a mark on the bearings. Amazing....I now use fuchs!!

I have penzoil running in oil in my motor at present, and will drop it after the cam is run in and inner springs are put back in. my engine builder use's penzoil exclusively and his rail has 280 low 7 sec pass's with just routine maintanence. not saying it is any better than other's as i have used mobil synthetic in the past but that was in a mini stroker engine and it made more power but a mini gearbox share's the engine oil as well. have heard good thing's about royal purple and kendal as well, the main thing is to pick the right grade and do not skimp. 10000 grand engine 10 buck oil big no no
