Hey guys I have a dumb question for ya! How do I set static timing with an HEI distributor? It's a fully electronic dizzy that incorporates the ignition module and coil into the cap. I've never set static timing with anything other than a points dizzy, and I want the timing to be spot on the first time I fire this motor. Thanks!!

The same way as you would for the points set up geess. Motor on top dead center rotor button at number one and drop it in. Just make sur you have the oil pump drive lined up fist.

Ya apparently it's by a company called Proform and is a Chevy dizzy mounted on a Cleveland shaft, all brand new gear.

because the chev internals are cheaper and more readily available i think the logic is

I do the same, but also making sure i have some advance left in the body of the dizzy. On TDC, you must be able to turn the #1 spot on the body of distributor, clockwise past the rotor tip, to get the 8 or 10 degrees advance on firing.
(this is more of a problem on the XD dizzy's with the alloy box hanging off it fouls on manifold one way, and thermostat cover the other way)
