Where should the needle of the temp gauge be pointing on an XB with a 180 deg F. thermostat?

Just below the 1/2 way mark but as these guages are pretty inconsistant they will show different readings on some cars.

Mine is now sitting at the half way mark. With a 160 F thermostat it was at around 1/3.

mine never goes above 1/3 with a 160, air con radiator.

I would NEVER trust the factory guage without getting it tested. The wiring in the XA-Bs was of crap quality and the resistance builds up giving false readings. I have seen a guage go to half way and the water pisses out of the radiator cap because it was overheating.
