Is there a way to tell from the outside of the motor wether its a 185kw or 200kw version?
It's a 11/99 XR8, and I've heard that some of the late AU's had the 200kw motor in them.

I'm not 100% sure but I think all the 200 and 220kw engines were signed by the builder. If it has a signature plate it will be a 200kw.

If you really want to know just get the vin and engine number and ring FPV up and say your looking at buying this car and want to know if it is legit. And just ask what state of tune it is in

Im pretty sure if its an AU1 which by the sounds of it being a 99 model it is a 185kw jobbie

Is the 185Kw AU1 motor the same as the EL2 185Kw motor or are they running different mappings in the computer only.

GTP heads and 12 nm more torque...I think 24 Lp injectors came in with 200kw as well??
Check they should be blue if 24's/200kw.. Orange for 19's/185 kw..

Different engines. AU 185kw run GT40P heads, 65mm TB, 70mm MAF, distributorless ingition etc, EL 185kw engines run E7 heads, 60mm TB, 55mm MAF.

my 10/99 AU series one XR8 ute has blue injectors...I don't think it is 200kw though. Maybe they started using the 24 pound injectors a little before the series II 200kw..?

as stated , 200kw and 220kw have a tickford plaque on the drivers side rocker cover.
