200kw vs 220kw AU engine

Whats the difference mechanically between the 200kw and 220kw windsor? I can get the 200kw version a fair bit cheaper. I am probably going to end up rebuilding the thing anyway and I could use the money saved on the 200kw one for more mods. What does it take to get it to rev higher (6500 - 7000rpm?) and make around 250kw?

220kw engines got ported heads with larger valves and slightly higher compression, different cam with 1.72 roller rockers, larger 70mm throttle body and different exhaust and EEC programming.

250kw is fairly easy, only taking a cam change really. The Crane 2030/2031 cams have proven to give great power increases to the AU V8 engines. Getting the engines to rev to 7000rpm requires balancing and decent rod and main bolts/studs, a good valve train and the obvious EEC mods to remove the 6250 rev limiter, but reving the engine that high isn't really needed to produce good power.

If I am buying after market heads its not really worth spending the extra money for a 220?

Exactly, if you are going to rebuild the motor with aftermarket parts get the cheaper 200 or 185kw powered XR8's.
