ha! they can have both of mine when my EBs unit is all finished. I used to wonder why there wasn't many 347s (or any type of 5.0 stroker) featured in mags in Oz, after getting my own done - I now know why. Power for Dollar, and unless you do a tonne a work yourself - it is a very pricey way to go.
Although you do forget that when you're behind the wheel - torque monsters are fun!

Mine was done as "may as well" bassis..Seeing I had STRONG block I was talked* into $1800 custom low comp 27 cc dished c.p pistons...Rods 5.4" $2200 the rest is Eagle 4340 3.25 forged crank, Mellings Hi Vol pump, Hi Energy sump, all came in under $10k including block, keep in mind I had good induction from old engine...*Mind you I didn't need much convincing to get better rotating assembly!!!

i went for the forged crank, forged h-beams, forged pistons etc... even though parts may only cost $6-7k.. its the time it takes to get these things together and going
I probably have $15k in parts alone in mine. Assembled, retail , would probably be around $22k. Mind you, after i race it in two weeks time, it may only be worth scrap value!

It has aready run mid 10's with only difference being a different intake and carb. (the Moroso Calculator predicted high nines) Last time out with the new combo i had some teething issues. (the new manifold mounted the mechanical throttle linkage in a different position, restricting the throttle travel. This has now been sorted, and I reckon it still has a 10 in it, in its new configuration. Only time will tell.....

i should point out that it is in a very light car.
Coast high performance have there 550 hp,,460 ftpd 347 long motor for $5900us dollars,,should be able to get one through vpw in aus.
