351 fixable???

picked up this block for free..and didn't notice till i got it home the gaping hole..
my question is if the block is still salvageable..if i could just weld it or if i gotta take it somewhere to get it done

if the pics dont show and you think you could help i could email them to you with addy..

That hole is normal, it adds to oil return, etc.

yeah . thats a factory fitted hole.

what a job that would have been. smashing holes in new engine blocks all day.

It's a very crude hole. The blocks that I've had both clevo and windsor have had them hacked out this way. Clean it up with a die grinder or something because I've actually had one crumble. Not a good thing to have a big chunck like that floating about.
