351W bore limit

Hi first time on this forum and I would like to know the bore limit ,or safe limit of the 1997 351W lightning block.I have a 420ci strocker which produces 665hp with a 4.100stroke 4.040bore .After craking a piston using 500 shot of N02 I bought a probe 60 over piston. I know it will work just well, but will it give me hidden problems.Does someone have any valid tech advice to give me?

Re: 351W bore limit

Get the block sonic tested then you'll know for sure how much meat you've got. But yes .030-.040 thou is the norm. Just wondering why didn't you get another one/set of .040's?

Watch big revs with that stroke. Keep checking your caps.

Re: 351W bore limit

i personally would never go beyond 40 thou...

Is the piston in fact cracked?

Why such a huge shot of NOS?

Stroke wont be a problem, ive seen these things sing @ 427ci

Re: 351W bore limit

yeah but with a 4 or 2 stud main block?

A fellow who balanced and 50% built my bottom end has a 351 4 bolt stroked to 400ci Twin T04 turbo'd

it pushes just under 1200hp at 10psi.
So they are strong, but the power developed at lower Rpm is what saves him. hes reluctant to boost more for the fact of the mains going walkabouts.

Thinner bore spacing doesnt help matters with things like NOS which puts a big stressload on the motors internals.

Re: 351W bore limit

thanks I needed the assurance that it would not be such a bad idea. I am running a two bolt mains with a half inch girdle made out of tool steel,my cam has gotten changed from 295*int duration to 276 and my heads are tfs-r flowing 331cfm.this combination should be good for over 710hp,so im really exited at the outcome,i will keep you informed on the results.Last combo ran 10.43@132.
