351w combo????

hey everybody!

im a clevo boy, and i dnt know much about windsor combos? im chasing a bit over the 400hp at the motor for a friend, he has a bog stock 51 windsor, i build my old clevo for 4k for everythng, it made 285 rwhp and ran high 12s in a xy, how would it cost to do the same?????

are the factory windsor heads crap? its a 2bolt bottom end, what sort of rpm can you spin it up to? are the factory blocks strong? are they hard to get bits for in aus. like manifolds, extractors, can you get electronic dizzies for them?????

cheers thanks.............

ebxr8, i was under the impression that while this is possible on clevos, the smaller main webbing on windsors means the 4 bolt main conversion on a 2 bolt block actually weakens the bottom end?

YES very true with 302 roller block but 351w is alittle stronger in that dept..With 400 h.p though it may not be nessessary?..RPM is the killer too..

Re: 351w combo????

A 351 windsor with Aftermarket iron heads at 10-1 comp,or aluminium heads at 10-5-1 is good for 400-450hp,or then there are stroker combos,393,408,418,426,anything above the 393 requires a fair bit of machining and the motor life is not as long, similar to the 347 with the 302 block. This could also get exspensive with balancing and the type of quality parts used.An aluminium headed 51 will weigh similar to an iron headed 302windsor

400hp is easy. You just need decent heads, a manifold, and a cam.

AFR185's
RPM Air Gap
Healthy hydraulic cam

And forget the 4 bolt conversion - its not needed

Re: 351w combo????

comp cams xe274hr would give 400fwhp easy with the afr 185's and the air gap manifold.
