Does anybody know if the 5.0 in an ED falcon uses the "short" explorer water pump/timing cover, or the standard depth mustang water pump/timing cover? I'm also wondering if a mustang balancer would fit, or do I need an explorer one?

ED's use a standard balancer from the American 5.0L HO engine (up to 1989/90 mustang I think), the explorer ones came in on the ELII or AU's I think. Do you already have the mustang one, because Powerbond do really nice units for the EB-EL's at a decent price.

I'm getting a whole bunch of parts from USA for a 5.0 core I picked up really cheap. Thanks for the info on the balancer. Anybody know about the water pump and timing cover?

As far as I know all the EFI Windsor's have the short pumps ( could be wrong but ) I just fitted a XW 302 windsor into a 1990 2WD hilux and to get enough clearance I fitted the timing case and water pump of a EF and used a balancer off a AU111 XR .
