Has anyone got one of the 5.0L EFI Crow cams. I am currently looking at one of the crow cams .548th lift 286 duration and 218 duration at 50th. The guys at crow, which were very helpful, say it has medium idle quality, with equal to stock (220kw) low end torque but much better mid range and top end power. Any thoughts / ideas / words of wisdom would help.
It will be in my opinion alot more lopy than 220. I guess power from 2500+ to 6000.Has heaps of lift. With what ratio rockers? Sounds good to me.But driverbility down low in revs will be less. [some 58cc chambers compresion will help].Need GOOD valve springs ha?....

That lift is with the 1.7 ratio rockers. Heads are ported GT40P's with 1.94int, 1.55ex valves, with new crow springs (up to 550th lift) and cc'd to 59cc. The tech guys at crow said the power band is 1800-6000 with no low down power loss, but you cant really trust them because it is their product. I guess I will see when its in.
Is the cam o/k to run with 1:7 ratio? In some cases it closes too quick and hammers the sh!t out of your valves and seats.P/V clarence is another issue.. Trick Flow st 2 275/282 224/232@50 lift@valve 1:6 557/566 112* lob sep.. to go by..
The x 303 Ford is 224/224 @50 lift 542 and they say check p/v claerence. The duration is more on inlet than yours..
You will need to port that intake to get full potentual from rest of motor.. i.m.o

I have just checked the p/v clearance with a AUII 220kw cam, which is a lot smaller than the crow. It only has 20th clearance to the side of the valve relief on the intake side thanks to the larger valves. I am now getting some KB Lightweight pistons which are cut for upto 2.10 valves and high lift cams. So now I can basically go for any cam I like without problems. Any suggestions without loosing too much down low.
I have already had the intake ported so that shouldn't be a problem. I may also have to go back down to 1.6 rockers to widen my cam choices. Anyone want some near new (1500k) 1.72 ratio rockers.
BTW:: TFS stage one imo.Tfs-51402000 221*/225* @ 50 312/319 cam lift.
1:6 r.r 499/510 with 1:72 r.r 536/548 ..
In my opinion still a very strong cam for street...
Considered Crane 2031 ???

I basically decided on the TFS #1 last night, but then was told, it can be a handfull at idle. Others, including trickflow, say it has a good idle. Do you know anyone that sell the trickflow cams. I tried High Performance World, a trickflow dealer, but they need to place a special order for it costing around $650.
