I have just purchased a 94 xr8sprint,on the temp gage it runs at about halfway-little less/littlemore around there anyway but sometimes it gets up to the "A" on normal, is this normal.

note:car has new hoses,fluid level ok,no leeks.

is this normal or am i worrying about nothing?????

It's a bit high, and may be a problem on hot days if you want aircon. Mine always ran between O and R in NORMAL. Your radiator may be a bit clogged up. Give it a good flush out with some radiator cleaner and see how it goes, otherwise a new radiator is only around $200.

i thought it was a bit high,will flush this week coming otherwise just buy a new 1.

Have u ever thought about ef/el twin thermos on instead of clutch fan.

Yes, I did that a couple of years ago, and you notice the difference straight away. Mine started overheating so I put in a 4 core radiator (standard is 2 core) and twin davis craig thermo fans. I just set the temp of the fans, and the gauge will never move even if it is 40 degrees and I am standing still with aircon on.

Mate the same thing was happening to me to and I asked some one about it and they just stated the obvious "anywhere in the normal range is normal" , why else would they print normal on it.

Mines a 5.0l aswell and the radiator just been flushed and cleaned out all the fins and its been upto the "a" in normal.

I think your pretty right until it starts heading towards the red.

When you flush it, don't forget to take thermostat out and open up heater.

Its probably well worth having the radiator removed and the cores properly inspected and cleaned by a radiator specialist, especially as we are coming into summer.

my 5ltr was running midway till i changed the thermostat a couple of days ago. Now it runs between o and r of normal and when it gets hot it goes to between m and a, nothing more tho.... even with aircon on and the biggest hill
