66 289 heads on 79 302?

Any input?

This will be the first engine I've rebuilt, and I don't want it to be a dog...so I started looking for heads.

I'm not going to race it, it's going to be a weekend cruiser in my 97 Ford Ranger...

The 289 heads will bump compression a point or so, but will I lack top end because of the small valves?

I would like to keep this rebuild as easy on the wallet as possible...

She will be fine...If you want to mill the hump on the exhaust port away..Exh ports on Ford heads flow the least...
