84 thunderbird 302

what can be done to make this engine just a tad bit better than the factory did?

I acquired grandma's old 84 'bird 302/AOD just looking to spice it up a little

what i mean is, I need to rebuild the one I have so I'm thinking time for updates.

my idea/ goal is 225-250 horse. (not alot but I don't need tons of power, just something for fun)

does anyone know the limitations of my motor. A local guy told me the heads are very small and rob power. True or not?

I have considered a small cam and changing from the TBI fuel injection to carb. I know I want headers, and I already have the dual exhaust.

I want info from anyone who's got it.

thanks in advance,
J Cribb
