Hey all,

Anyone used an aftermarket TFI module ? (the black box that sits on the bottom of the dizzy). I have an aftermarket coil now, but am wondering about the TFI module....

I think accell does one, and Battens sells a "Dyna-Mod"

Good / Bad / Ugly ?

From what EDXR8 has told me the Accel ones he can get for a good price and it produces more spark than stock, where for a new item will set you back $390!!!! I know which one I'll be going for.

EDXR8 has the coil, TFI and a cap & rotor kit all from Accel. He would be the one to ask on this subject.

So the advantage of this setup (and let's face it for good quality !Gn|T|0n you'd need to upgrade the stock leads, plugs, dizzy? rotor arm? TFI? SPOUT wiring?) is less chance of a missfire and hence smoother idle and slightly better power delivery?? Is that correct?

Yep that pretty much sums it up. The more spark the better the burn. The better the burn the smoother the engine and increase in power.

The Accel coil in conjunction with the cap & rotor kit will produce 40% more spark and you apparantly feel it around the mid-top end power range. The price for these is way cheaper than stock ford items.
