Two quick querys, does fitting a EF air box lid with the pipe fitted for the air flow to be dirrected into the MAF make any real difference on a EB XR8 that is already running a EL GT snorkel and if so which part number or would just the EF XR8 one do.Also my mate just purchased a AU2 XR8 ute and the snokel on it is very small, which is the best and would the EF box lid also help.
Not sure about the snorkels but i cut the front of the air box outand put plate on the motor side to stop heat getting in,also a 75mm flexy pipe out of where the snorkel goes down and out under front and made 10hp at the wheels.

Yes the EF lid will fit, and apparntly flows much better than the lids without the pipe. I don't think the V8's had the lid with the pipe, only the 6's, so just ask for a EF 6cyl airbox lid.
The AU 2 XR8 snorkles should be slightly larger than the EL GT/XR8 snorkle you have. It flows about the same, but doesn't fit E-series V8 without hitting the power steering pump. IF it looks small, someone may have changed it, just check it should have tickford winds molded into the top of it, if not it has been changed.
No Tickford wings on it,is the AU 3 XR8 the one to get and has any one done any dyno tests regarding the EF air cleaner box lid as it seems like it's some cheap horsepower
The AUIII 220kw wngines have an aluminium bellmouth on thier airbox lid. I would think that this would be the best, but probably the most expensive to. There have been flow tests on the EF airbox lid and it had around 20% more flow than the standard AU one.
As for the snorkle, if it doesn't have the tickford wings on it, someone has changed it. For $30 go and get a new AU XR8 snorkle.
I'll go and get my mate the proper AU snorkle.
I drove my EB without the air filter one day and it flew.By the air flow tests the EF lid gives the same air flow with a filter as the AU does with out a filter.
I work at a car yard so the next EF that gets traded I will swap it over and give it a try and post my thoughts when Im done. The EL snorkel really made a difference and Im also planning to fit a extra pipe into the wheel arch and down to the front bumper.

i fitted my AU XR8 / TE50 snorkel today (had it for a while - just not fitted) heated it up over the stove and made a nice impression around where it fowled up on the powersteer pulley. i also had to cut about 3cm off the end of the pipe so it was the correct length.
it was a notable imporvement as well
great bang for ya 20 bucks
