well theoretically no, it will still suck in air. how much more of it will depend on how much more modified than std ur motor is. so id assume using someting like the normal 14"x1.5" with a k&N would prob be a good.

Don't use those ridiculous tiny filters that only cover the opening, or you could bolt on a single barrel strommy for a similar effect.

The bigger the better especially if you get cold air, why run a restriction if you dont have to?

Yes, it matters. Use the biggest one that will fit. Use at least a 14x4 or 14x5

Yes it does matter, however it's even more important is to duct cool air to it.

Whilst your at it, why not get one of those K&N filters that also breathe from the top not just the sides.

Funny you say that Rick, I have a great big hole in my bonnet from those noisey webers, so cool air shouldn't be a problem.
