Annoying whine when revs greater than 4000rpm
Hey all,
I got this annoying whine that comes on just after 4000 rpm. its kinda like a hissing noise i guess would describe it. I lubed all the ancillaries, and sprayed silicon spray on the belts. but didnt work! what could it be?

This could be a long shot, but is your girlfriend in the car when this whining occurs?

It could be the power steering bearing has shat itself or even the idler arm has shat itself??

I have the same noise. I actually had two, one was continual and the other (is) when I rev to about 3 grand. I'll have to take off the fan belt and give it a rev and see if it still makes the noise.
If it doesn't its one of the bearing in the fanbelt line.
Just a matter of getting time......

I got the idler pulleys and tensioner pulley done all at the same time. I got my mechanic to do it and it cost me about $220 supplied and fitted!

Yes difference was you did them ya self dcliff and I got someone to do it for me. You saved $160 and I payed for the convenience.
I would love to spend the time to do things myself but in all reality, I just dont have the time.
