Re: au xr8 coolant problem

Dont see it being too different to a E series V8.

Bleed as in drain it? If cant get the drain plug off the radiator then pull the bottom hose off. Radiator pipe usually flanged like all buggery so it takes a bit of a workout....

Re: au xr8 coolant problem

There is a drain tap on the bottom drivers side. From memory its 10mm, there should be hole up through front Xmember near bottom hose...

Iff you are reffering to bleeding air?? I'd just let idle while filling up.It should purge itself as all hoses stop in header tank/ coolant bottle anyway...Unlike V6 Comme...

Re: au xr8 coolant problem

the best way ive found is to bleed is to pull the hose that connects into the top radiator hose going from the overflow bottle. fill until it starts to run out of top radiator hose. then start and get operating temp and check the level.

Re: au xr8 coolant problem

The V8's have an automatic air-bleed setup. Just fill it up, run it for a while and top up. Also pays to check and top up in a few days or so.

For those interested, on AUII, the drain is on the *passenger* side. A bit of a bastard to get to as well, with the plastic undertrays at the front of the car. At least the screw is captive which is handy...
