Au2 xr8 (200kwspec) bottom end

Hey guys

What is the max you'd rev a stock bottom end to in a 200kw spec au2 xr8.

Whats going to be an acceptable rpm for everyday use would 6500 be starting to ask for explosion????

6500rpm would be ok, it would likely be ok to 7000rpm now and again.

Re: Au2 xr8 (200kwspec) bottom end

Wouldn't be reving it that high regularly without some decent main and rod bolts. Also the factory balance is very ordinary, IMO 6k is about the max I would be comfortably reving a stock bottom end. Really, while you have the heads off, there isn't that much work involved in strengthening the bottome end, some good ARP rod bolts and main studs and machining and balancing to match would be a good option.

Re: Au2 xr8 (200kwspec) bottom end

for the price of balancing and maching of the bottom end is it worth not to do it, then something lets go, go and get it done properly, but having said that xr8chic isn't having any probs with her std bottom end at the moment, as long as you dont hit 6k + all the time it should hold up.

Re: Au2 xr8 (200kwspec) bottom end

As above main studs/rodbolts/balance 7k ok. 6k stock is enough, though never had one pop on me yet......
6500 is going to need trick valvetrain bits to get a hyd roller up there without going flat or floating
