Strange problem... after investigating a squeaking noise from the front of the engine we discovered that the washer that sits behing the bolt that fixes the balancer to the crankshaft is loose and spinning, causing the squeak. The bolt however appears to be tight. We can't understand how this can be. Has anyone come across this before?
