a friend of mine has a highly worked EDXR8 pushing out over 200rwkw (naturally aspirated). She has the Edlebrock performer RPM upper and lower manifold, and is currently considing putting in a thenolic spacer.

i think this will add an extra 3/4 of an inch to the height of the motor, and before we do this does anyone know if it will clear the bonnet?

Why not try & put blue tack or something like that on the inlet manifold & shut the bonnet.

From what I have heard, the 1/2" spacers are fine but the 1" ones are a problem.

Can't remember which ford magazine did the testing but they got 2-3rwkw and 5Nm improvement with the 1/2" spacer.

The Bible version 2 (5.0L FORD DYNO TESTS by SADESIGNS) explains that the spacers increase runner length which helps torque. It also explains that cooling the upper half of the manifold produces power by allowing a denser intake charge - colder air is denser air which means more power.

i have a 3/8" spacer and it fits, you wouldn't fit a 1" spacer though

How much would a 1/2" spacer cost? And where can you get them from?

my 3/8" spacer was $160, and that was an edelbrock spacer
