I've got a spare electronic dissy from my XE 351 and want to know if it will fit into my son's XY 302 windsor. I want to get rid of his points, or should I convert his existing dissy to electronic?

I have fitted an xc 302c electronic dizzy to a 351w. I would imagine the xe dizzy has a different shaft diameter to the XY. Pull it out and compare them. You will have to check shaft length and diameter and where the drive gear sits. If the length and gear are good you could rebuild the xe dizzy with a shaft to suit the xy, or easier still find an electronic dizzy from an "early" XC ( before shaft diameter changed ) thats the easiest option.

302W and 351W have different shaft diameters. In fact 351W and 351C (early) are the same. The 302W is a tiny wee thing.

I may look at reconditioning and recurving the existing 302W dissy, at the same time converting it to electronic. Any suggested kits? I really cant afford to buy a new dissy.
