confused Clevo crank in Windsor

A Ford "expert" told me that a 302 Clevo crank can be offset ground to go in a 5 litre Windsor to make it a 347 stroker.

Further, he said there is a mob in Melb who do this for $600.

Can anyone confirm this? If so, how does this compare to buying a new stroker crank for a 5 litre Windsor?

Re: Clevo crank in Windsor

Firstly, a 347 cast nodular crank can be bought off vpw for about $400. then you need rods and pistons. comes close to $2000 in the end.

A clevo crank can fit and can make 363 cubes (at 60 thou).

It'll need the following mods: overall length reduced, it's cam sprocket changed, the rod journals cut down 0.080-inch, 0.125 taken off the mains, rear seal resurfaced, oil holes enlarged, additional balancing weight added to both counterweights, flywheel and front dampener.

I'm copying all this from a book i got.

From what i can see the same rods and pistons can be used as in a normal 347 combo.

hope that helps. for something different it'd be a good project to do.

Re: Clevo crank in Windsor

Thanks. Whats the details on the book? Where can I buy it.
Sounds like it may be cheaper to just buy a crank. Maybe this route has been killed off by cheaper cranks becoming available. Any advantage in using the Clevo crank?
Does anybody from melb. know of the mob that do this?

Re: Clevo crank in Windsor

The book is "High Performance Small Block Ford Engines", it has lots of good combo's for the windsors but is a bit dated. It has many stroker combinations for the 351w using off the shelf parts, but was written in the 80's. In the last few years stroker parts have become common and CHEAP. So i'd personally go for a kit myself. easier to get parts for in the future.

shaynet,

Maybe it is Pro Stroke 03 9758 0713.

Not sure if they are still in business or not.

Re: Clevo crank in Windsor

Thanks fellas. I will go back to my expert friend and ask him why go to the trouble before trying the white pages for Pro Stroke
