i got a clicking noise comin from engine when car under load , am sure its a exhaust leak , could it be anything else

pre ignition? hard to tell from here without hearing it.does it sound like pink or click
seems odd for an exhaust leak if its only leaking under load.

not so much just under load even when i rev it in park still does it ,

It is probably either an exhaust leak or a noisy lifter, its really hard to tell the difference. If you put a long metal socket extension bar onto the head or maybe rocker cover and hold the other end up to your ear and you hear the tapping or clicking it is mechanical noise (lifters, rocker arms etc). Exhaust places use tube type listening devices which help determin if it is an exhaust leak, they are similar to a stethoscope but have an open tube end which you can move around the exhaust joins etc.

thanks i am pretty sure its exhaust, done the left side pulled extracor off it has a small hole in it so welded that up and put new flange gasket on it , will inspect right side this weekend
